We are lucky at Willow to have the resident trainer in Carl Belson. Carl has many years experience in training both riders and horses and his enthusiastic and active approach gives riders the confidence and the chance to achieve their goals. He has recently become a UKCC Level 2 coach and regularly assists Corinne Bracken in training the BSJA Junior Academy. He also runs clinics for local riding and pony clubs. The facilities at Willow enable a broad range of training opportunities and; you can jump our high quality jumps in outdoor rings or on a surface in our 20x60m arena, whether it be grid work or jumping a course, as well as school over our cross country course. He offers excellent rates for people based at Willow and is willing to assist in planning your horse's competition programme at no extra charge; this is to include feeding, work regime and fitness to enable you and your horse to achieve your goals. In just a few months of training, Carl has taken a group of junior riders based at Willow from small unaffiliated competitions to being ready for their first affiliated British Novice competition. Moving from competing himself to training others, Carl has started to have some notable success: Success Stories Simply Billy Bunter whom he found in Ireland competed at the Newcomers Final at HOYs 2007. Alex Morrison was a student of the Surrey University who qualified for the University National Riding Club Campionships and was short listed for the Internation Team to represent Great Britain. "Carl has a rare talent to be able to produce a horse for an occasion, which takes depth of knowlege, not only from a riding perspective but also from a daily management point of view. Each discipline requires a different regime and Carl is more than capable of providing what the horse needs to produce its best" Corinne Bracken Whilst Carl's passion lies in training showjump and event riders he is a very able flat work trainer having ridden up to Advanced level eventing.
